Make the most of your schedule and ensure it works for you. With schedule mode on, the zone follows the calendar you have built and changes soundscapes on its own.
So what plays in the gaps?
Your schedule does not need to fill every hour of the day. Any stretch with nothing scheduled is a gap, and within each zone you can choose what plays in those gaps, either a soundscape, a category of music or silence.
If the fallback is set to a soundscape, it plays that specific soundscape through every gap, and the schedule takes over again the moment the next block begins.
If the fallback is set to a category, it plays that category of soundscapes through every gap, and the schedule takes over again the moment the next block begins.
If the fallback is set to silence, the zone simply stays quiet between blocks.
Gaps are covered whether they last twenty minutes between two blocks or a whole day with nothing on the calendar, so a zone in schedule mode always knows what to do, even when part of its schedule is empty.
A gap is not the same as a Silence block, which enforces quiet you have scheduled on purpose. Your fallback never plays during a Silence block, so if a zone needs guaranteed quiet at a set time, schedule a Silence block rather than leaving the calendar empty.
You can set or change a zone's fallback at any time following these steps:
Open the Schedule tab in your preferred zone.
In the banner at the bottom of your calendar view you will see “When Nothing is Scheduled”
Select Change on the banner, which will open a side menu.
Choose either a soundscape, a category of music or silence.
Select Save.
