To keep your music playing without interruption, the key is stopping your device from sleeping or powering down apps in the background. Locking the screen on its own doesn't usually stop playback, it's sleep and battery-saving modes that get in the way. Here's how to set each device up. There may be some varieties depending on your make and model of device

iPhone and iPad

  1. Open Settings and tap Battery. Make sure Low Power Mode is switched off, when it's on, your screen locks after 30 seconds and background activity is limited.

  2. Go back to Settings, tap Display & Brightness, then Auto-Lock.

  3. Choose Never, or your longest preferred time, so the screen stays awake while you listen.

Android

  1. Open Settings and tap Display, then Screen timeout, and choose the longest time available (some devices offer Never).

  2. Return to Settings, open Apps, and find Myndstream.

  3. Tap Battery and set it to Unrestricted, so the app keeps running in the background.

On Samsung devices these sit under Battery and device care and it's also worth adding Myndstream to your "Never sleeping apps" list there.

Mac

  1. Open the Apple menu, choose System Settings, then Battery (or Energy Saver on a desktop Mac), and set Low Power Mode to Never.

  2. In Battery, click Options and turn on "Prevent automatic sleeping when the display is off."

  3. Go to System Settings, then Lock Screen, and set "Turn display off when inactive" to Never, or your longest preferred time.
